Tarte recently had a 30% off sale so of course I had to buy something. A sale that good just can’t be passed up right? I don’t own a lot of Tarte products for some reason so I thought this little Mother Nature’s Miracles set was a great way to try out some of their skincare and makeup. I own one of their lipsticks, one mascara, one of the items in this set, and I once had a setting powder. I’m not sure why I never bought more of their line because I really enjoy the few items I do own, but after trying this set out I will definitely be adding more Tarte to my collection.
This is a 7 piece travel set with 4 skincare items and 3 makeup items. I bought mine from the Tarte website but Sephora has it also. Its limited edition and costs $38 which to me is an amazing deal. I have tried all these items out except for the under eye patches, I am currently dealing with rashes under my eyes and per my Dr. am not to put anything on them until its cleared. But you better believe the second its gone these bad boys are going straight on my face!
Pack Your Bags 911 Under Eye Rescue Patches: These patches are made up of gellified algae saturated with a coconut oil infused serum. They are meant to soothe and hydrate the under eye while fighting the look of puffiness, dark circles and crows feet. The coconut oil delivers intense moisture and is known for its conditioning properties. They also contain Rainforest of the Sea Complex which is a proprietary blend of algae and marine flower extracts the help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while smoothing and softening skin. You apply them to clean dry skin for 10-15 minutes and they are single use only. They are sold in packs of 4 for $22. I am super excited to try these out because if they do what they say they do I’m stocking up!
Maracuja Oil: I own this product already and I use it every night as the last step in my night time skin routine. It leaves me super hydrated to the point that I still feel it on my skin when I wake up in the morning. The bottle I own doesn’t have this super cute design though! Maracuja oil is cold pressed from the maracuja fruit which is naturally rich in vitamin C and replenishing essential fatty acids to nourish, protect and feed your skin. The weightless hypoallergenic formula helps firm and soften without clogging pores, and works to provide an antioxidant barrier against environmental attack. The Tarte website suggest using it in a few different ways. You can use it as a daily moisturizer to quench dry skin and seal in hydration. It helps calm sebum production on oily and acne prone skin. Or you can mix it with foundation for enhanced moisture and anti aging benefits with a dewy, radiant finish. I personally would only use this product at night because my skin is so oily. To me it has a pleasant nutty smell to it and has a nice smooth texture. I can’t say I’ve seen any crazy difference to my skin since using it but its only been about a month. I really do like how it keeps me hydrated through the night, even tho my skin is oily I still like it to feel hydrated. I have had no negative side affects from using this and it definitely doesn’t clog my pores so I will finish both bottles and decide then if I will repurchase. The larger bottle goes for $48 for 1.7 fl oz./ 15mL and the small bottle is $16 for 0.5 fl oz. A small amount goes a long way so I would defintely recommend the smaller bottle.
Rainforest of the Sea Deep Dive Cleansing Gel: This is a daily brightening face cleanser and waterproof makeup remover. I’ve used this a few times since I received it and I really like it. Its a gel formula that you pump onto your fingertips and rub until a lather forms then massage into the face. Its very silky in texture and feels really nice on the skin. It leaves my face very soft and not tight feeling. I have to say though as a makeup remover its not the best. I always use other products to remove my makeup first anyway so its not a problem for me. Its hypoallergenic like most of their product so its very gentle on my sensitive skin which I love. I have quite a few face washes that I rotate through so I honestly don’t know if I would repurchase because I have some for less money that do the same thing. I do like the benefits of the deep sea complex so I’ll finish the bottle and decide then if I want to purchase a big bottle. The small size bottle is $12 for 1.7 fl oz., the medium bottle is $25 for 5 fl oz/150 mL, and the large bottle is $36 fro 10.14 fl oz/300mL.
Rainforest of the Sea 4-in-1 Setting Mist: This is a poreless skin mist that works as a setting spray, primer, hydrating mist and skin refresher. Its supposed to extend makeup for 12 hours but that’s not why I like this. I don’t even use it as a setting mist to be honest, I like to use it on bare skin as a kind of treatment because the ingredients and their benefits just sound like something I want to bathe in, plus its refreshing on the skin and has a subtle citrus scent. What’s in it: Rainforest of the Sea Complex which I described above. Orange peel oil: which helps promote collagen production and reduce puffiness for youthful looking skin. Sea water: provides intense hydration and minerals to quench and nourish skin. Lentil seed extract: helps to minimize the appearance of pores. Caffeine: helps improve microcirculation while reducing the apperance of redness and puffiness. Coconut oil: antioxidant rich oil that helps smooth and nourish skin. Lavender oil: soothes and tones. I mean come on who doesn’t want all that on their face! I’ve only used this a few times so I need to try it out a bit longer but I really see myself buy a full size bottle once this one is gone. The full size bottle is $25 for 2.50 fl oz/75mL
Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara: The deluxe sample size that came in this set was really nice. I love the packaging and it feels comfortable in your hand. What is claims: a lengthening, curling, volumizing, and conditioning mascara infused with olive esters to condition, treat, and protect lashes. Clinically proven to increase volume by 330%. I’ve only just worn this today. I’ve had it on for about 10 hours now and its still on and still looks nice. It went on really easy with no clumps and gave some decent length but I wasn’t impressed with the volume. I don’t know if it conditioned my eyelashes, is that really something you can feel? I like the wand size and shape for my upper lashes, I have small eyes so this was too big for my lower lashes and it made a bit of a mess. I like the fact that is conditions and protects lashes but I have other mascaras that I prefer so I’m not too sure I would buy the full size. This came in black and as far as I can tell it’s the only color it comes in and is $23 for 0.24 fl oz.
Color Splash Hydrating Lipstick: This long wearing color and moisture rich full coverage lipstick comes in 24 shades and goes for $21. The deluxe sample I received was in the color Island Life which is a rosy mauve. I really like the formula of this lipstick. It went on really smooth and evenly and lasted a decent time. What I like most is that it’s super hydrating. I always find myself applying a gloss or balm over my lipsticks because my lips get so dry but with this I didn’t even need to. It does transfer when eating or drinking but still leaves a decent amount of product on your lips. It wore really well throughout the night and I liked the color, I will definitely be buying some other colors.
Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush: This is probably my favorite item from the set. I’m actually mad at myself for never purchasing this. The formula is so smooth and pigmented and blendable. It goes on so evenly and actually does last 12 hours! Its infused with Amazonian clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked in the sun, how cool is that! This deluxe sample came in the color Feisty which is a rose color but to me seems more on the peach side. It comes in 11 regular shades and 5 naughty nude shades. They sell for $29 for .20oz. I liked this so much I can’t wait to buy a few more shades! Here’s a swatch of the lipstick and blush. The lipstick is on top and blush on bottom in natural light. They look really pretty worn together.
Overall I was very satisfied with this set and I can’t wait to continue using the products that came in it and try some new ones. If you guys have any other Tarte recommendations leave me a comment below. Thanks for reading!
