Happy May everyone, we are that much closer to warm weather in Chicago and I can’t wait! Today I wanted to share my favs for April with you guys. A few of the items have been around for a while and I’m so sad I didn’t discover them sooner, but at least they are in my life now!
First up is the Benefit Gimme Brow. Why, why, why, did it take me so long to try this? Well I know why, I’ve been an Anastasia Beverly Hills lover for so long that I just couldn’t look elsewhere. Brow Wiz and Dip Brow were my babies and I never felt the need to try anything else. I don’t know what made me try Gimme Brow but damn am I glad I did! This stuff is incredible!
What it is: Brow-volumizing fiber gel that mimics the look of real hair for fuller looking brows. Brush on gel has tiny microfibers that adhere to skin and hair creating lush looking eyebrows where before there were none. Its water-resistant, long-lasting formula builds easily for thick, full arches.
It used to take me so long to do my brows, now I’ve literally cut the time in half. I outline my brows still with my Brow Wiz then apply the Gimme Brow all over the brows. It’s so simple and pretty much goof proof and it makes my brows look great. My brows are thin and pretty patchy and this works wonders for me. It comes in 3 shades, 01 Light for platinum to light blondes, 03 Medium (which is what I have) for golden blonde to medium brown, and 05 Deep for dark brown to black. They have 2 sizes, travel which is 0.050z/1.5kg for $12 and a full size which is 0.1oz/3.0kg for $24. Its pretty much your brows but better and so natural looking. I highly recommend! I purchased mine from Sephora.
Next up is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. For anyone else who uses this you know what I mean when I say this stuff is like liquid magic!
What it is: Micellar Cleansing Water features micelle cleansing molecules that lift oil, dirt and makeup away from the face. Gently takes all makeup off with no rinsing and no harsh rubbing. You pour a little on a cotton pad and just wipe away. I don’t use this as a makeup remover, I use this after I’ve already removed my makeup and washed my face as an extra step to make sure all my makeup is gone. I then use this on my eyes to get off whatever my makeup remover leaves behind and it’s really gentle. I also use this now as soon as I wake up. The first time I tried this in the morning I was shocked and slightly grossed out at how dirty my face was just from sleeping.
It comes in a few different formulas, There’s the regular one which is in a pink bottle, a mattifying one in a green bottle which mattifies the skin and purifies pores (I have this one) and there’s a blue one which is for waterproof makeup. I’ve tried the pink and green and love them both. You can find these at any drugstore and there’s 2 different sizes. The smaller size is usually around $3.49 (prices vary) for 3.4 oz and the larger sized bottle is around $6.79 (prices vary) for 13.5 oz. I bought mine from Target. Honestly you can’t beat the price! Especially for something that works so good. I will never be without this again!
This next product is somthing I’ve been using for a few months now but just recently decided I liked, its the White Charcoal Setting Spray by Boscia.
What it is: A setting spray that locks makuep in place while visibly minimizing shine and pore size with the power of white charcoal. Binchotan white charcoal controls excess oil, detoxifies the pores, and balances the skins moisture content. Artichoke leaf extract and black tea visibly minimize the apperance of enlarged pores instantly and over time by increasing skins elasticity and brightening the pore wall. Vitamin-rich, antioxidant black tea also works to protect skin against free radical damage.
I don’t use this as a setting spray. I found that for me it works best if I spray this on my face after setting my foundation but before bronzer, blush and highlight. It defintely mattifies the skin but I like to finish my makuep with Urban Decays All Nighter because it melts all the powders together for a more seemless finish. I love the Boscia though becasue it really does help to control my oil thorughout the day and I can tell a differnece when I don’t use it. Does it minimize my pores? Not really but that’s not why I bought it so I’m ok with it. The only down fall to this spray is that if you don’t shake it well enough it leaves white spots all over your face. The first time this happened I wanted to cry thinking my makuep was ruined, but now if it happens I just use a fluffy brush to wipe it away. Setting my face at the end with a non mattifyng spray also helps to melt the white spots into my skin. I bought mine from Sephora, 1oz is $12 and 5.05 oz is $38. I would defintely recommend the smaller bottle at first to make sure it works for you.
Up next is the Age Prevention Superfood Mask by Youth to the People. This mask feels absoultey amazing on my skin. It goes on so silky and it doesn’t dry down so it keeps your skin soft and not tight feeling. You leave it on for 15 minutes and when you rinse it off you’re left with smooth, bright, glowy skin. I have quite a few different masks and this one is defintley one of my favorites. It just feels so lovely on your face and it has a really pleasant spa like smell. I just can’t get enough of it.
What it is: An age- fighting cream mask enriched with superfood ingredients to improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles while visibly firming the skin. This maks feeds your skin with the best superfoods – seagreens spirulina and bioactive microalgae – combined with a blend of kale, spinach and green tea. This powerful blend delivers age-fighting antioxidants, phytonutrients, essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals to protect from free radiacals and support natural turnover to restore and rejuvinate skin. Crosslinked hyaluronic acid keeps you fresh by visibly plumping, hydrating, and locking in moisture for a youthful looking complexion.
I love that this mask has so many awesone ingredients that benefit your skin in so many ways and it comes with an adorable mini spatula. I got this from Sephora for $44 for 2oz/59mL. A little goes a long way with this so it will last quite a while.
This next product is just plain amazing, Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm by Clinique. I wear a lot of makeup daily and this literally melts it right off. I rub a small amount on my skin and wipe off with a cototn pad and the makeup comes off effortlessly. I recevied it as a deluxe sample with a Sephora purchase and fell in love immediately. After one use I knew I would be purchasing the full size.
What it is: A transformational lightweight makuep remover that goes from balm to oil to milk to melt away every trace of eye and face makeuep and sunscreen. It’s non-greasy, non-drying, light weight formula nourishes skin, cleanses thoroughly, and rinses off completely, so all thats left is a fresh dewy glow.
After I wipe this off I rinse my face with warm water and then wash as usual and when I’m done I’m left with only the occasional small trace of makeup left. Its gentle on my sensitive skin and leaves me feeling hydrated and not the least bit greasy. I bought this from Sephora for $29 for 3.8oz/125mL which to me is a great price seeing how much you get and how little you actually need. I opened this about 2 weeks ago and you see how little is actually gone. This will lasts me months.
OK, last but certainly not least is the absoutley stunning Androgyny Palette by Jeffree Star. I love this palette so much that I plan on buying a second one for backup. Every color in this palette is just as beautiful as the next, with 8 mattes and 2 metallics. The looks you can create are endless, from dark and sultry to bright and summery. The formula is amazing, the colors go on so smooth and they blend perfectly. I think this is a must have in any makeup lovers collection! You can purchase this palette from the Jeffree Star website and Beautylish for $45.
